Youth Football Certificate I & II / Youth Football Licence

1. Introduction

These courses are aimed at coaches of players aged 12-15 years of age.
FFA’s Approved Presenters focus the course content at the competent organisation of suitable
game-centred practices.
The course is also designed to further enhance the knowledge of those coaches who are
currently coaching players of a youth level age.

2. Course Objectives and Outcomes 

2.1 Youth Certificate I
At the completion of this course the candidate will have been exposed to:
o Model training sessions for athletes between the ages of 12 and 15
o Conducting practices to facilitate improvement in the four core skills:
• Striking the Ball / Passing
• Running with the Ball
• First Touch
• 1v1
o Group Discussions / Role Play activities around Risk Management issues, Communication,
Group Management and Game Day behaviour 

2.2 Youth Certificate II
On completion of this course the candidate will have a basic understanding of the principles of
constructing and delivering an appropriate training session for Youth Players.
At the completion of this course the candidate will have been exposed to:
o Model training sessions for athletes between the ages of 12 and 15
o Conducting Practices to facilitate the improvement in the main football functions:
• Playing Out
• Attacking and Scoring
• Ball Possession
• Defending
o Basic Football Conditioning

3. Course Duration

3.1 Youth Football Certificate I
7 hours

3.2 Youth Football Certificate II
14 hours

3.3 Youth Football Licence (Assessment Component)
20 minutes

4. Course Preparation

4.1 Youth Football Certificate I / Youth Football Certificate II
 

Candidates are advised to undertake adequate pre-course preparation by downloading and
printing the Course Manual from www.footballaustralia.com.au/coaching
Candidates must bring the printed course manual to the course.
It is recommended that the candidates prepare themselves in a physical sense, particularly if they
are not actively playing or coaching immediately prior to the start of the course.

NOTE: Candidates will be invited to participate in practical sessions. Those who are unable to do
so are required to declare any medical impediment in writing and advise the Course Presenter.

6. Pre-Requisites
 

6.1 Youth Football Certificate I
No pre-requisites.

6.2 Youth Football Certificate II
Youth Football Certificate I required. 

7. Candidate Assessment

7.1 Youth Football Certificate I and II
No assessment

7.2 Youth Football Licence
Candidate assessment is conducted on course, at an Assessment Day / Night / Weekend organised by MF or by an FFA Qualified Assessor at a local venue.
