Set the standard - become a futsal referee

There are many great benefits to becoming a futsal referee whether you still play the game, currently referee outdoor, have retired, or have never played there is plenty to be gained from picking up the whistle.

Futsal is the only form of indoor football officially approved by FIFA and the FFA; played over 100 countries it is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Usually played at fast pace the sport requires quick decision making and reflexes.

Throughout Canberra and the region futsal is played at senior and junior level, competitive and social competitions so whether you want to referee for local competitions or make it to the World Cup like Canberra's own Chris Colley there are matches to suit your level and experience. Futsal refereeing is a great way to stay involved in the game as well as having some fun, making new friends and earn some money along the way.

How old do I have to be to referee?

The minimum age to start refereeing is 13 years old. (Similar to a Football Referee)

How long does it take to become a referee?

It take approximately 8 hours to complete a referee entry course. These hours are generally spread out over one day and conducted by the Futsal State Coach, Futsal FIFA referee Chris Colley.

How do I register for a course?

Referee course can now be registered online. Please check the referee calendar for dates when courses are run and/or click on the register online now link below and select your course to register.

How much will it cost to get started?

All referee entry courses are $100. This includes their year registration and a Laws of the Game book. To referee matches you will also need to purchase a uniform and equipment. These items are available only at the Capital Football office. Prices of the gear can be found on the website.
How much money can I earn from refereeing?
Referee match fees for Futsal vary but the minimum fee is $20 and maximum is $30 (for senior futsal)
