Two players carry a ball in their hands and try to tag other players with the ball (must keep hold of the ball). When a player gets tagged they become the new tagger.
Variations/Progressions
(Diagram 2)
All players dribble their balls while avoiding the taggers
Play Build ups: Players stay “in” until everyone is tagged
Exercise 12- 1 v 1 Promotion/Relegation Warm up Tournament

Set cones up 10 metres apart. 1 Player behind each cone. Ball in the middle. Each pair of cones represents a a football league divison 1-4. On 'go' players race to touch opponents cone then back to own cone then to the ball. The player who reaches the ball first has possession. Players play 1 V 1 with no boundaries. Goals are 360 degrees. Aim is to hit opponents cone to score a goal. Play continues for 30 secs to 1 minute. Goal hanging or time wasting will incur an uncontested penalty kick. If games end in a tie-rock, paper, scissors to decide. Winners move up a division, opponents move down.

Following a set number of passes (3) a player from the attacking team attempts to beat the defender 1 v 1 and join the team in square (B) and keep possession again . Exercise 1 - Passing : Improving ball possession and movement forward from the middle to the attacking third of the pitch.
This week's session, presented by Matilda's head coach Tom Sermanni at the 2009 FFA Coaching Conference focuses on passing technique and improving ball possession and movement forward from the middle to the attacking third of the pitch.
Exercise 2 - Passing: Improving team passing, receiving and Individual body shape
This week's exercise was presented by Qantas Socceroos Head coach Pim Verbeek on Monday March 2 at the Australian Institute of Sport prior to the Asian Cup qualifier vs Kuwait. The training session was the Socceroos first full training session as part of a four day camp leading into the qualifier. The featured passing exercise was preceded by a group warmup session and followed by a 6 v 6 possession match exercise in a training session that lasted just over an hour. Coach Verbeek led the exercise, constantly providing the players with technical advice and encouragement to increase the speed and accuracy of their passes and touches. He stopped the exercise on 3-4 occasions to allow the players to recover and discuss how players could improve receiving and distributing the ball more efficiently. The exercise lasted for 20-25 minutes at a very high tempo with the players responding in a highly spirited and enthusiastic manner.
Exercise 3 - Functional combination play
This week's exercise was presented by interim Australian Joeys coach Jean Paul de Marigny during a training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport on April 8, 2009. The featured exercise was preceded by individual technical work, a group passing exercise and team handball led by the conditioning coach. The exercise can be used as a passing exercise focusing on technique or as a functional exercise targeting central and wide midfielders and forwards.
Exercise 4 - Transition to attack 4 v 4 Training Game
This week's exercise is a great training game modelled on the rules of the Homeless World Cup and presented by Capital Football Assistant Technical Director Pat McCann. In this sample the focus is on encouraging your team to transition from defence to attack as quickly as possible. The game could also be used to focus on defending while outnumbered, attacking in a numbers up situation or taking a goalkeeper on 1 v 1.
Exercise 5 - Passing and Receiving
