Program Overview
The Academy follows a technical program which is tailored to suit the still developing bodies of the young players in the Act and surrounding region. The structured development program is designed by Boys Head Coach Milo Milovanovic, Girls Head Coach Robbie Hooker and is based on the skill set advocated at the AIS men's program. The Technical Director is responsible for guiding the Academy Program in a direction that allows both players and coaches to improve, enjoy and succeed in their endeavours. The Academy Program targets several age groups and looks to incorporate training that is appropriate to each age group, with a focus on developing each individual. Through the Development squads (Boys U 12’s, Girls U 12’s, U 13’s and U 14’s) and the Representative squads (Boys U13’s, U 14’s and 15’s, Girls U 15’s and U 17’s) the individual will be challenged and motivated to achieve at the highest level. The Academy acknowledges its role in the development of young players both as people and as players. Academy players are assured of the best coaching and facilities in order to maximise the opportunity of becoming an elite player. However, the Academy also recognises the statistics - becoming a professional player is an extremely difficult task and there are no guarantees. The Academy has established Kambah 3 Oval as a permanent home for the program. The facility includes change rooms, toilets, and is under lights. The training facility allows all Academy Teams to train in the one location throughout the year on weeknights, with games also being played there on weekends along with Tradies Hawker Oval.
