Program Information
SELECTIONS FOR 2008 Selection to the Capital Football Academy is an ongoing process. It involves multiple stages from open trials through to selection of a squad to play in the local league as well as a chance to attend the National Youth Championships. Selection for the 2008 Academy began at the conclusion of the 2007 season with a series of open trials for younger age groups. The 2007 Academy coaches were also asked to select a number of players from their 2007 squads to be exempted from the open trial process and move directly into part two of the selection process which involved five weeks of intensive training. Stage 1 concludes in early December when a number of training squads will be named for the 2008 Academy.
It’s important to note that these squads remain training squads only. This means that selected players are not assured of playing with the Academy beyond the first phase of 2008 (January – April). In addition, squad coaches will be able to invite other players into their squad to train for the duration of the phase. Further selections will occur over the year and it is important to refer to the appropriate section below to understand how this will be done for each squad. For ACT representative trials, being an Academy squad player does not guarantee selection in the representative team for the national youth championships.
